Common Course Numbering is Here!
In fall 2025, Santa Monica College and all California Community Colleges will begin implementing Common Course Numbering (also known as AB 1111). Under this new numbering system, many courses will have the same standardized course numbers and titles at every community college campus, making it simpler for you to transfer credits, plan your degree, and meet transfer requirements.
The changes appear in the chart below. Additional courses will transition each semester until the initiative is complete. Be sure to check the schedule of classes and SMC catalog carefully, and reach out to your counselor if you have questions!
